      Van Buren--- Herman J. Ouellette, 76, died peacefully Thursday, March 9, 2017, at his home after a long illness with his wife at his side. He was born September 3, 1940 in Cyr Plantation, a son of the late Onezime and Bertha (Violette) Ouellette, and was a 1958 graduate of Van Buren Boys High.

      Herman worked for Van Buren District School over 25 years as a custodian, until his retirement in 2002. He enjoyed going dancing with his wife, playing cards with his family and friends, or visiting his friends at Edna’s Flower Shop.

      He is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Lillian (Cyr) Ouellette of Van Buren; two sons, Keith Ouellette and his wife Kim of Bentonville, AR and Scott Ouellette and his companion Edna Pelletier of Van Buren; a brother, Clayton Ouellette of Connecticut; two sisters, Rachel Lajoie of Connecticut and Glenda Roy of Caribou; four granddaughters, Amanda, Erica, Taylor & Kaylee; and many nieces and nephews.

      Besides his parents, Herman is predeceased by fifteen siblings.

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, March 13, 2017, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Monday morning 9-10:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in St. Bruno Cemetery.
