      Millie Violette, 85, died Jan. 23, 2011, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. She was born July 8, 1925, in Lewiston, a daughter of Walter and Yvonne (Derosier) Violette.

      Millie graduated from Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1943. She retired after 30 years from Dexter Shoe Co. in 1987. She then continued to work part-time at H.L. Tillson & Co. for another decade. She was a communicant of St. Anne's Church, Dexter. Millie was active all of her life with her gardens and various farm animals. Her pastimes in retirement included watching daily Mass, praying the rosary, reading the newspaper cover to cover, keeping up with world events on CNN, and of course, watching her favorite sports events.

      She was predeceased by her sisters, Artheline Gilbert, Doris Darling, Jeannette Votour, Geraldine Lambert, and most recently, Margaret "Peggy" Meakin. She was also predeceased by her dear friend, Yvonne Perras.

      Millie is survived by several nieces and nephews.
      Spring burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
