Robert J. Violette, 63, of Rocky Hill, husband of Maria (Saraceno) Violette died Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Hartford Hospital. Robert was born September 6, 1947 in Van Buren, Maine and was a son of the late Leo F. and Annette (Dubay) Violette. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving from 1966 to 1968, and a former Bristol resident. He has resided in Rocky Hill for the past 20 years. He was a member of Union Local 43 and was previously employed for several years at O & G Construction where he worked on many roads and bridges in Hartford. Robert was currently employed as the Director of Maintenance at The Children's Center of Hamden. In addition to his wife Mr. Violette is survived by a son: Brian Violette of Bristol; a daughter and son-in-law: Janis and Ross Cook of Southington; a brother: Clarence Violette and his wife Stella of Van Buren, ME; two sisters: Rita Bouchard and her husband Romeo of Frenchville, ME and Gloria Theriault and her husband George of Caribou, ME; a sister-in-law: Isabelle Violette of Bristol; six grandchildren: Michaela, Abigail, and Tyler Violette, and Kristy, Mackenzie, and Rosco Cook; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers: Raymond and James Violette, and a sister: Patricia Hill. Robert's continual smile was enjoyed by all who knew and loved him. His leisure time was spent playing cards with his friends at the VFW and playing with his grandchildren.
