Mr. Melquis Violette
At Foyer Notre Dame Nursing Home, Saint-Leonard, December 9, 2006, Mr. Melquis Violette of Saint-Leonard passed away at the age of 91 years. He was the husband of Alda (Poitras) (Cyr) Violette. Born at Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes in 1915, he was a son of the late Victor Violette and of the late Sophie Gauvin.
Mr. Violette was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Saint-Leonard council 2743. He was also a member of the Saint-Leonard Golden Age Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Donata Voisine (late Fred) resident of Foyer A. Ringuette of Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska, two brothers, Claude (Rolande) and Lorenzo (Irene) of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, three sisters-in-law, Laurette Violette (late Patrick) of Saint-Quentin, Nora Violette (late Armand) of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes and Cecile Violette (late Sylvio) of Saint-Leonard, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife’s children, Aline Beaulieu (late Richard) of Saint-Leonard, Jeannette Gervais (Roger) of Saint-Leonard-Parent, Armand Cyr (Jeanne d’Arc) of Saint-Leonard-Parent, Albert Cyr (Diane) of Saint-Leonard, Alyre Cyr (Pierrette) of Saint-Andre, Lorraine Martin (Guillaume) of Drummond, Rino Cyr (Verna) of Saint-Leonard-Parent, Clairmont Cyr of Saint-Andre and Gilles Cyr of Brampton, Ontario, as well as 24 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers, Patrick, Armand, Sylvio and Irenee, as well as by six sisters, Amanda, Blanche, Alfreda, Therese, Leone and Sister Mina, trappistine.
Resting at O’Regan’s Chapel, 83 Saint-Antoine Street, Saint-Leonard with visiting hours Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. His funeral will be held Wednesday, December 13th at 4 p.m. from the Saint-Leonard Roman Catholic Church, with interment in the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Cemetery. Members of the Knights of Columbus and of the Golden Age Club will meet for prayers Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. For those who wish, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
