Oscar Nicholas Levesque, 86, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Kachina Point Health Care Center in Sedona.
He was born Oct. 25, 1918, in Lewiston, Maine, and was one of six children. In 1941 he wed Leola "Lee" Violette and they were married for 59 years. He lost his wife in January 2001.
Mr. Levesque served in the U.S. Army and fought in World War II. Upon his return, he became an electrician and commuted for many years between Maine and New York City.
He loved baseball and played professionally as a young man. He was a connoisseur of sports and could recite facts from several years ago. In 1962 he moved his family to New York City and in 1979 he moved to Flagstaff.
Mr. Levesque is survived by daughters Danielle Levesque (Ted) Hird of Encinitas, Calif., Peggy Levesque (Kevin) McNamara of Palm Harbor, Fla., Janice Levesque (Chris) Johnson of Flagstaff and Donna Levesque (Steve) Zimmerman of Flagstaff; brother Dennis Levesque of Auburn, Maine; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66 in Flagstaff. Interment will follow in Citizens Cemetery in the veterans section, with honors rendered by the American Legion, Mark A. Moore Post No. 3.
